First of all, Pipe?
What's with that name?
It comes from Magritte's painting "The Treachery of Images". A painting that inspired Foucault to write a book e other artists to think about reality and representation, truly creating a fuss and molding the surrealistic thinking.
For us, it says about what others cannot see, or simply are not used to. What is not obvious but at the same time is within everyone's reach. It's the capacity to see reality from and through a different perspective.
We built Pipe to bring a new reality, we built it to see global finances become more free, integrated and safe, generating value for everyone. We don't like to call ourselves Venture Capital, since we're not. But we do venture. A lot.
What do we venture on? On people, first of all.
On their ability to change the status quo, their capacity to create new things that were impossible before and their will to achieve them no matter what. We invest in those who think that a different future is possible and are willing to fight for it. Too aspirational? Well, it is. And we're not ashamed of it.
We're different. And we like it that way.
Pipe is a vehicle to make our world a better place, by financing those who can change it. It's a new perspective on how to see our reality and how to use our resources.
You can call us what you want, but we'll keep on seeing things others don't and making the impossible, possible.
That's our job. And we love it.
